Leyco Real Estate was established in 1978 by the husband and wife team of Crockett and Dorothy Leyendecker. Crockett was a 6th generation rancher of Colorado County and a former County Commissioner. His wife, Dorothy, was a past member of the Columbus City Council. In October 2017, the next generation of Leyendeckers took over in their granddaughter, Kimberly Johnson, and great-niece, Currie Luedecke. Kimberly has been a Realtor since 2008 and has served on an advisory board for the Houston Association of Realtors, was named a "Top 20 Under 40 Rising Star in Real Estate" by HAR in 2016, and is a current Board of Director and TREPAC chair with the South Central Board of Realtors. Currie is a former special education teacher and has been a Realtor since 2015. In 2019, Currie was named the "Favorite Realtor" in Colorado County by the readers of the Colorado County Citizen. Kim and Currie have put together a team of 13 Agents and Brokers that are just as talented. Leyco has agents that specialize in commercial property, that are degreed in land management and therefore specialize in land and ranches, and award winning residential Realtors. Leyco is not only the oldest Real Estate Company in Colorado County but also the largest with 13 team members.
